About Lor

Lor Bēgent is a queer, disabled, self-taught and apprenticeship-trained artist with roots in Japanese tattoo tradition. After beginning their tattoo career, severe illness left them in the dark - unable to tolerate light, in chronic pain, unable to create at all. Over years, they painstakingly re-taught themselves how to draw, digitally illustrate, and paint again by tracing their own work from bed. Most of their work is still made from bed - mythological beasts, gold-veined florals, surreal feminine figures that hold your gaze, and everything fierce & strange in between. The line work was learned under the needle. The gold is earned. Nothing looks away.If you would like to donate directly to my disability care and costs, click here.
